Adelaide, SOUTH AUSTRALIA – 7 September 2026 – OptiGrid, an Australian battery optimisation and trading intelligence platform that is built for the National Electricity Market (NEM), has been selected by Vena Energy, a leading green energy solutions provider in the Asia-Pacific region, to provide trading optimisation services for the Bellambi Heights Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The project comprises two adjacent 204 MW units in Beryl, New South Wales, and is under construction with commercial operation expected in 2027.

Vena Energy selected OptiGrid following a detailed evaluation process. OptiGrid’s OptiBidder platform uses proprietary AI-powered forecasting and optimisation algorithms to support trading decisions for the Bellambi Heights BESS.

Through OptiBidder, the Bellambi Heights BESS will respond to market signals by optimising and submitting bids across energy and Frequency Control Ancillary Services (FCAS) markets, supporting efficient participation in the NEM.

Owen Sela, Head of Australia at Vena Energy said, “We are pleased to be working with OptiGrid on the Bellambi Heights BESS. Their experience optimising battery bidding in the NEM made them well suited to a project of this scale. This will support the battery’s role in delivering grid stability and reliability for the region and integrating more renewable energy into the system.”

Sahand Karimi, CEO of OptiGrid said, “We are delighted to be selected by Vena Energy for the Bellambi Heights BESS following a rigorous, data-driven evaluation. Capturing the full value of batteries like Bellambi requires not only accurate forecasting but also an optimiser that can account for offtake obligations and relevant constraints. Our team brings deep experience in managing these offtake structures and has implemented bidding software for multiple gigawatts of assets across the NEM.”

OptiGrid provides bidding services to a portfolio of hybrid and standalone BESS projects in the NEM. Based in South Australia, OptiGrid’s shareholders include the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, IP Group, Hostplus, UNSW, Adelaide University and EnergyLab.
